9mm Luger 90gr EXD Ammunition Real World Solutions for Real World Situations
Made from solid copper, EXD bullet is “barrier blind”. It easily penetrates barriers including sheet metal, auto glass, and bone while maintaining the ability to effectively transfer energy to the target. The EXD creates massive amounts of drag within soft targets and was designed from the ground up to meet the FBI’s specifications for bullet performance and penetration. Rather than using the bullet’s energy to initiate expansion, like a traditional deforming hollow point, the EXD redirects fluid radially away from the projectile’s path through “flutes” on the bullet. The massive pressure difference created by the flutes concentrates fluid, as well as bone/tissue fragments, and rapidly accelerates them into its surroundings. By using a design that doesn’t rely on expansion, the EXD is able to provide more consistent and predictable performance across a wide range of situations.
The XD ammunition has an optimized nose flute, total weight, and velocity to achieve a penetration depth range of 18 inches with a permanent wound cavity (PWC) that is just simply enormous; no other expanding hollow point comes close to achieving anywhere near this diameter and volume. Not only is the PWC over 100% larger than any other expanding bullet, it is near barrier blind, ignoring wallboard, sheet metal, and automotive glass.
We were able to accomplish this quantum leap in terminal performance at the same time while reducing recoil. The terminal performance achieved is quickly approaching that of 5.56 rifle performance and that is an incredible feat.
